hi, i m trying to design a audio amplifier of frequency range 200 t0 12 khz, with carbon mic.

i hav to use op amp mostly, i facing a problem to how to choose specific op amp, and how to consider all its parameter, where to include any capacitor if any. if u hav an answer plz reply.

Well...... A good place to start would be to consider which aspects of the op-amp performance are important to you.

How familiar are you with these ?

Did you notice 'carbon mic'? He doesn't need an op-amp; he can just put the mic in series with the loudspeaker.

And use an adjustable power supply for a volume control, till the speaker starts to smoke. ;-)

So you have the speaker, hopefully speaking loud, then the carbon mic. But where do you connect the mic?

Thanks, Fred.

Well, yes, but I thought he would learn more if I didn't mention that. (;-)

3 V battery, mic and loudspeaker, all in series. Works best with a 15 ohm or higher loudspeaker.

I did but was planning to consider those aspects of his requirement later. In fact I was also going to discuss the alternative use of electret capsules since carbon mics are no longer used AFAIK.

I doubt that's what his course work is about though.

Which reminds me... Does anyone do 'optical' microphones, where the movement of a mirror etc is measured by bouncing light off it or fringe counting in an interferometer?
