I use Linux Ubuntu.
I have tried for months to get a Bluetooth dongle (tried 4 kinds) to send sound to my Altec Landsing wireless headphones with no luck.
Is there any other way to accomplish my task?

If they were all items originally tied to a mouse or keyboard or other device, thety are likely locked to that device, even if it is not on or currently linked to it. IOW, it will not try to pair with any other device... ever.
The headphones ALSO my be proprietary and will only link up with the BT dongle they were originally paired with. Some wireless headphones have a base you hook into your audio source and that base is the BT hook to the headphones.
BT is wireless but not all wireless is BT, Bluetooth is a standard and pair of BT headphone ought work with any BT audio capable device, like what's build into laptops, tablets and phones
Headphones pair with android S5 just fine. I guess its some issue with Ubuntu.
I use Ubuntu Studio, which is keyed toward video and audio production, so it make work differently than the baseline Ubuntu releases.
Are you saying the my bluetooth will work with Ubuntu Studio 18.04 LTS?

Could also be a thing to do with the recent vulnerability issue with CPUs. Linux has released new kernels, and Ubuntu has updates.
Maybe there is a limbo state folks can exist in between the vulnerability changes made and updating their machine.
I am saying that it may because the set up is different for a lot of things.
Silly things like auto-recognition of added drives or say a camera or say a pair of headphones.
So, yeah... since it is a multi-media device, it may fire right up under Ubuntu Studio, but not so without a massage under plain vanilla Ubuntu.
USB connected Bluetooth sound card?
Should, but a lot of devices don't work with my work Dell machine. Some connect, once, then fornevermore. A few computers don't like my mouse. Mostly Bluetooth works but not always.
I think I found an answer.
I ordered an adaptor so I can plug it in to my audio input jack on computer.
