For the perfect solder joint, I do all my soldering using a stereo microscope, and I'm always wasting time looking for my tools. After trying different methods of storing them so they would be easy to find, I may have hit on an ideal solution.
I found a piece of aluminum conduit, 3.25" o.d. and 4.25" high, with 0.1" thick walls. (82.55mm * 108mm * 2.54 mm.)
After squaring it up and rounding the edges, it made a perfect "Lazy Susan" for eight of my favorite side cutters, wire strippers, tweezers and pliers, etc. It takes very little room on the bench, and the tools are always in easy reach. The thin wall makes it easy to add or remove a tool, and is heavy enough so it won't tip over. The tools are held in place by gravity, so you can pick it up and move it to another location without having all the tools fall out.
PVC or ABS plumbing pipe may also work if you can find walls thin enough so it fits easily in the joints of the tools.
This was a simple but very effective solution to my problem.
