No, he's implying that PDAs are only useful as sorta dumb terminals.

On a sunny day (Fri, 13 Aug 2010 16:35:31 +1000) it happened Grant wrote in :

I dunno, on Mr Rice's site there is mention of a 32 bit version by somebody. I have used the 32 bit integer routines in scope_pic to calculate the FFT sums.

I did send him an email to thank him for his software, and about the new version, so far no reply.

I think with doing the math on the PC end the range can be bigger and accuracy should not suffer very much. See my posting on this subject called 'Update'. Working on it.

You guys should look up the difference between implication and inference.

I'm not implying anything!!!!

I'm STATING DIRECTLY that old palm pilots (not to be confused with the more general term PDA) make excellent and CHEAP/FREE dumb terminals. I'll also further STATE DIRECTLY that with a suitable programming language (ybasic is the best (for my purpose) limited demo one I've found) and some creativity, they can handle the majority of the user interface and math in conjunction with the hardware interface capability of the PIC and other microcontrollers.

It's all about system partitioning.

As always, you may infer anything you wish. Representing it as MY intention would be an error.

No offense intended! At this stage in my life I can plead senility. I am begining to wonder what happens when I can no longer keep my old Palm Pilot going. I rely on it rather than my fading memory.

I have Googled YBASIC and will take a look. I don't really need more projects but it does look interesting...

BTW, the LC Meter looks like it could become a club project...

Oh, not necessarily-- it could be quite deliberate.
