low VBE PNP transistor?

Feb 20, 2008 2 Replies

I have a appliction that needs something like a 2n2907 pnp but could use a lower VBE on than the 2907. Anyonw know of a transistor that has low VBE when collector currents in the 500mA range (saturated)?

2N4403 is quite a bit better at Ic/Ib = 10, 8050 is better again, but you should also consider a p-channel MOSFET.

Would a germanium pnp like a 2N404 work? These have Vbe 1/2 of the silicon ones.
