Do laptop CD drives come in one size, or do you have to buy a specific one for your laptop model?

Not usually. But you usually can get spares off ebay from laptops that are only good for parts.
Why would you want to buy CD drives? They'll be obsolete pretty soon.
Transfer all your CD's to USB memory (in upside down mode) & use that.
