Difference between an optocoupler and a SSR

Does anybody know the difference between an optocoupler and a Solid State Relay?

Thank you very much!

The last one is a special version of the first one.

Why should there be a difference? most that I know of integrate a opto-coupler for isolated control of the solid state switch.

In other words, consider a SSR having a optocoupler in it.

An SSR typically carries heavy loads and likely incorporates an optocoupler and possibly also zero-voltage / current switching circuitry.

An optocoupler is a low power device designed simply to galvanically isolate a control input and output.
