Spartan-6 MGT/GTP power supply

Hello,

I am going to use the 4 of the GTP interfaces. I calculated I need a dedicated,2V@3A supply.

I checked the EVB from Avnet for the Spartan-6 150T and they implemented two options: whether a switching relator LMZ from National whether a TPS54317 LDO from TI. I like the LMZxxxx solution because the design is simple and my PCB is already pretty busy.

It seems the maximum ripple voltage on the MGT supply is only 10mV so that perhaps I should use a LDO low noise regulator for a correct operation of those high speed interfaces? (I can't use electrolytics Capacitors because of a mezaninne card.)

Do you think I can reach such a low output ripple with this switching regulator?

Has anybody has some experience about that?

Thanks.
