Unless you "look" at the data with other than your simple eyeballs. Scientists who actually know what they are doing can find the patterns. Those who are only familiar with sine waves have a harder time with it.
ilinx engineers that the resolution of metastability in a FF was very fast for that generation and expected to improve for the next generation.
Everything you wrote and in particular the parts you trimmed show you are r ather blind to the metastable issue. Metastability isn't just a matter of is it a 1 or a 0. The resolution time takes away from the propagation dela y and can cause logic failures if not handled properly.
The point is that when Peter was around you could safely ignore metastabili ty in all but the fastest designs. Now that is no longer true.
