Where does Thunderbird keep its emails?

Question

I need to extract emails, in whatever format they are stored, from Thunderbird which is on a hard drive taken out of a dead computer. I can access the SATA hard drive as an external drive. Already many documents and other files have been copied over onto a hard drive in a working computer, but I now need to save out the emails. Where do I look for the emails?

Wherever thunderbird was configured to store them on *nix the default is ~/.thunderbird/.default/Mail But you can change that... --  the biggest threat to humanity comes from socialism, which has utterly  diverted our attention away from what really matters to our existential  survival, to indulging in navel gazing and faux moral investigations  into what the world ought to be, whilst we fail utterly to deal with  what it actually is.
