FWIW, Kodi is perfectly usable with a keyboard, this is how I use mine.
Now I got the LibreElec tool to write USB-SD and LibreELEC-RPi2.arm-9.0.2.img.gz and made a microhdsd and booted the libreelec and enabled the blu kore remote to access it.
My current problem is that I can't fix its libreelec kodi time/date problem. I've configured it for my tz and given it an ntp name to use, but it has the wrong time and date including year.
This is supposed to be fixable by causing: Wait for network before starting Kodi
but that is nowhere to be found in my libreelec kodi.
I also found a command line, but I don't know how to get a terminal in libreelec.
One place says: LibreELEC has a 'Wait for Network" option in the Settings Add-on which you can enable. Set it to 30 secs for a RPi.
I don't find that.
Ah, so. It was a display problem. My 16:9 widescreen monitor doesn't show everything.
But, now I have configured to wait 40 sec and I have the same problem. Also, I don't sense that wait happening. I see some people can't solve this on their wifi connectivity.
I don't logically see how waiting before Kodi starts can 'work' because it is Kodi which knows how to connect to the wifi and Kodi knows the ntp server. If that is where the time/date is supposed to come from and only Kodi knows the wifi and ntgp, I can't see it working.
I'm currently back to Raspbian Kodi for my experiments. I don't yet know how to interface w/ the actual libreelec OS to do anything different than Kodi allows.
I also tried OSMC; I don't like its OS access or its Kodi interface any better. Actually the Kodi UI less.
The problem IMO w/ these OS for Kodi is how they go about making the 10 foot UI concept work.
In the case of Raspbian, its appeal to me is that it has a normal OS & UI interface until Kodi is started. That solves some of the problems I've encountered w/ the others.
Any ultrasonic receiver must be designed to reject typical interference to operate reliably. The transmitter technology (assuming mechanical generation of ultrasonic tones) is not a major factor, since both whistles and chimes both generate strong signals with good frequency stability.
The Space Command system worked serviceably in the marketplace for over two decades.

Yes; that works. And the XBMC Foundation folks provide support in that page's comments section. The Kore works w/ Kodi on Raspbian, LibreElec and OSMC.

Funny coincidence... I was vacuuming the gas fire yesterday, and it suddenly turned on.
It has an ultrasonic remote control.
I assume that the loud noise of the air rushing into the cleaning brush must have been such as to fool the receiver.

It's fully enclosed, room sealed, so no, not in my case. But if it were a true open flame (i.e. dreadfully inefficient) one...

I'm still auditioning alternate systems for the Kodi w/ and w/o Blu android phone remote.
There's a new release of RaspEx 190812, but it looks like it costs $15 for dl. The previous 190803 appears to be free at sourceforge.
