On my linux box I use the ifconfig command to see what my IPs are..

alan@trmb:~$ sudo ifconfig

inet 192.168.1.65 netmask 255.255.255.0 broadcast 192.168.1.255 inet6 fe80::fa0f:41ff:fee9:df2f prefixlen 64 scopeid 0x20 inet6 2001:569:faf1:7a00:fa0f:41ff:fee9:df2f prefixlen 64 scopeid 0x0

Websites like ipv6-test.com are handy too..

Be aware that ifconfig won't (always) show you all of the IP addresses bound to a box.

Conversely "ip addr show" will.

Maybe your IPv6 address(es) are only link-local, not routeable over the internet?

Hey that's my printer's IP address, get your own.

Next you'll be telling me your PC is at 127.0.0.1!

That's primitive!

When I dial my phone number the display tells me I have a new incoming call from me :-)

Here any phone not in actual use rings, not only here but anywhere in the world that a phone can get a 'net connection.
