Well there were also two 'pots' on a black unit for brightness and focus as well, however this was the only pot I could find on the mainboard, basically you a adjusted it with a crosshead screwddriver, I had a good look but thre were no more, I though perhaps there would be one for horizontal adjust too? Not sure what you mean by B+. Anyway I took it back to the shop and eventually got my money back, despite the idiot/conman making it out it was not faulty by using a picture where the fault was hard to see. No doubt they will rebox it and sell it again. They still have all the other faulty sets for sale, despite them knowing they are all faulty. I am thinking of giving a call to trading standards, but I expect they are as bent as Currys.

You removed the cover, tampered with three adjustments and then took it back to the shop for a refund. Who's the conman here?

Be sure to tell them you tampered with the TV, seeing as how you're straight up and honest, and Currys are allegedly conmen.

Oh yes I do its the one which controls focus and brightness, of course I only 'assumed' it was brightness because if said brightness below it, of course you being so knowledable will no be able to inform me that it does not actually control brightness at all :O|

It's not an alleged one it's a real one.

Yes that's an electronic degree not a TV/radio repair course, so not something which a degree course would cover. The technicians term for the high voltage supply in a tube amplifier would not be something you would be expected to know.

You're missing the point here, Albert. All you had to do was return the TV in the same condition as you bought it, untampered with that is, and they'd have given you a refund, no hassle at all.

You have chosen to make a rod for your own back. You prefered to whine about a shop before they even had the chance to offer you a refund or replacement, and now that they have done so, you still aren't happy.

I think you are referring to what TV manunfacturers commonly refer to as the 'screen' control.

They don't teach you that proper alignment tools should be used with presets, or that you shouldn't twiddle things indiscriminately?

You basically said before that your degree meant you were competent enough to work on a TV, now you're saying it doesn't? FYI, B+ is a common enough term in electronics. I certainly learned about it long before I gained TV experience.

Sales persons are not necessarily trained in TV picture assessment, rightly or wrongly. He may have been dishonest, or he may just have been ignorant.

There's often a 'warranty void if opened' or similar disclaimer on the warranty slip or sometimes on the covers.

OF course thats a lie, they initially refused to return it, had I not done my homework I would still have the faulty TV. However I had done my homework.
