I was talking about electronics. RMS values can be usefully calculated for many measurements. I believe standard deviation is an RMS value.

RMS is a specific mathematical concept, with many useful applications. Standard deviation measures something else entirely (second moment of the distribution; skew and kurtosis measure the third and fourth moments respectively), and is only in some ways similar to RMS.

Actually, how could an amp have higher power without testing higher wirh th eir ill defined standard ? How could we better quantify this ? If they all obey the same rules, the figure is valid.
