Instead of a ring slip clutch in a 2 part supply spool centre it uses a solid one with a sprung arm assembly in the base. Instead of a pivoted curved arc it has 2 smooth corners that engage, one or both, with the inside surface of the spool centre. This arm is covered in a composite material of felt with a rubbery covering that has now gooey perished. As the arm is eccentric, the braking action is normal enough in REW sense but grabs on in FF or Play or REC direction.
Can anyone think of a source of material that would be a suitable replacement ? Presumably felt as squashy and the rubber as friction material. Rubber on own would be too rigid and felt on own would wear out.
