Update: Laptop backlight replaced ;-(

Hi All,

I just thought I'd post the outcome of my last repair jobby (well since I did the 28" TV on Friday that is (just dry joints)) ;-)

So, I was given an old Dell Inspiron 8100 a while ago because it had a faulty screen. It ran ok for the fuirst few seconds then started flickering off progressing to flickering on then nowt by the time XP had finished booting.

Plugging in an external monitor showed a solid display (on that display).

When the laptop screen was 'dead' a bright light revealed a functional display.

I was advised it was either the backlight or invertor with the odds on the backlight so I aimed for that first.

Had I ordered one in the UK it would have cost me 65 UKP but ordered from the States (JKL, brilliant service btw) for around 20 GBP (all in) ;-)

I actually got round to doing the replacement yesterday (very fiddly .. I needed smaller fingers and more hands) but managed to do it ok and , so far all is A-OK! ;-)

All the best ..

p.s. .. and there were no spare / missing screws ;-)
