from a SMPS from a 15^ monitor) can the chopper transformer be shorted

of the equipment listed I do not have. Is the only cause of this a short to ground? Can there be something alse happening? Thanks. Gary

Yes, or if you accidently bump it with your knuckle while probing elsewhere on the board, ouch indeed!

Hi,

what kind of problem do you have with the monitor?

Is the heatsink connected to ground? I have an AT power supply, where the chopper transistor has a metal backside, connected to the 300VDC from the rectifier. So the heatsink is live under normal condition. (Quite a surprise if someone wants to feel for the temperatur. Ouch.)
