Telephone hook switch noise

I have a Chinese made telephone with a hook switch that is generating a ton of noise. Disassembly revealed a DPDT switch made by having the top of U shaped phosphor bronze contact springs sliding along the sides of tin/silver coated brass contact tabs.

I have given it thorough clean and need to know what, if any, lubricant should be used on the contacts before I reassemble it.

Help appreciated, John.

ton

tin/silver

Assuming now clean, phosphor bronze should not need lubricating. Perhaps neachanically add, by bending or something, some extra spring action (something less than handset weight of course)

I did bend some extra tension into the spring action. It is now assembled dry and so far so good.

Many thanks for the advice, John.

You can use a specialised contact-cleaner, but a *tiny* squirt of WD-40 should work fine.
