I have a Sony KV27EXR20 and am experiencing sound without picture. Picture was briefly intermittent then went blank. On power up I get the degauss. Even though the picture is dark. I can feel static on the screen and when I shut down, it collapses to a visible vertical white line and fades away. One email response said the CRT is gone. Your help is appreciated.

Likely, just bad connections @ the vertical ic. Sky.
The CRT is probably OK. It's not collapsing only when you turn it off, When you turn it off you are seeing it. Your problem is probably a lack of vertical deflection, caused by bad components or cracked solder joints in the vert circuit.
