Repair DV out on a miniDV camcorder - big job?

I shorted out 3, that's right, 3 of my mini-dv camcorders today with a broken pin on a firewire cable. What is the process of getting this fixed? They are not under warranty, so that is out of the question. Is it a big job? All of the other components around it seem to work fine, it is just the DV 4 pin.

There may be a fuse or fusible resistor on the firewire port, if you're not comfortable working with tiny surface mount components though you should look for a service shop specializing in photographic and video equipment.

I remember someone here a few months ago who had a problem with a mini firewire connector and thought they shorted out their camera. Turns out that the cable was messed up in such a way it pushed some of the pins in the camera's firewire connector out of place. He was able to see that there was a physical problem and fixed it by repositioning the pins. Although your problem could be electrical as well and I'd take James' advice on taking it to a repair shop.

To clairfy. I mean I'd take it to a shop if the problem wasn't obviously physical.

Get a strong diopter magnifying visor a strong light and look at the connector. If the connections are not bent and touching there really isn't anything you can do other than send it in for service.

On one of them, it sometimes connects but doesn't go through all the way, so I think it is the pins - but they are so small, I cannot possibly see or fix them myself.. On the HD and the other miniDV camera, I think one of the pins is broken or pushed back, because there is no connection at all. I try moving it around and nothing. I am going with Mack Camera, I hope they are reasonable in prices...any other suggestions? Canadian or US?
