Yep. A very crude and obvious form of subliminal advertising. The idea is to be subtle and non-obvious. It took me a while to see it.

It's interesting to note that the advertising industry continues to spend considerable amounts of money on something that allegedly doesn't work. One of my summer jobs in college was working for an ad agency doing mostly subliminals. Any of the books by Wilson Bryan Key are well worth reading. Afterwards, you'll be seeing sex in everything.
