Pioneer DV373

The said unit powers up with "no id num" on its display, which then changes to "region ini". Pressing any buttons on the remote to select a region from the osd menu (Player's region setting 1-5) has no effect. I believe i need to press condition memory which is only on a service remote, which i dont have. Hence i downloaded winlirc , built the serial port rx / tx interface with an ir receiver and ir led and a couple of odd components. Winlirc however seems to work ok with my akai tv but fails to learn pioneer codes(raw codes...inconsistent....failed). The multi-region ir file which i got off the net seems to work though (unit powers down after running it ...if drawer is open , a sign i guess ), but it doesnt solve my problem . Trying to look for a condition memory file to emulate that button being pressed but have only found it in some motorola format.......going loco....HELP !!!!!

Hi!

You might have all you need and not even know it. If you can do so, try taking apart your existing remote. You may find unused contact pads with no (or reduced) button "lumps" above them. Pressing one might give you the service function you are looking for.

I don't know what the likelihood of this being true is like, but I'd be surprised if Pioneer made a totally different PCB and controller layout for a "service remote".

Just be careful if you do find that your remote can do this--going into service modes can really screw things up and cause what may be fatal damage to the unit.

lol, william we seem to be on the same wavelength, that was the first thing i tried, to no avail...no unused carbon pads on remote. Thanx anyway :)

okay, i located the remote, my competitor down the road had one and he says he's never been able to figure out how to use it. It's a GGF1381. Hunted some more on google with that model no. and came up with this,

formatting link
the page's in german but has a section in english ; Power ON Confirmation of the CPRM ID No. as follows: press ESC then STEREO on the service remote, take a note of the 9 digit number, you will need it later( same No. is on the back of recorder), Exit this mode by pressing CLEAR. Deletion of the CPRM ID No.: press ESC + STEREO, input the same number as the ID number and press STOP. Input of the CPRM ID No. and ID data: press ESC+STEREO, input 9-digit ID number then press SEARCH to register ID, after this recorder's display indicates "INSERT ID", open drawer with recorder's OPEN/CLOSE button and insert ID disc, close. After recorder's display indicates "ID DATA OK" press CLEAR button. Power down then up, go to recorder's menu and initialize disc.

I pressed the "esc" button on it and pressed 3 and then enter , and the region ini disappeared ...hooray i crossed 1 hurdle. Then i tried the above mentioned procedure, found a paper sticker with a 9 digit number at the back of the unit and keyed it in. Now it wants me to insert an "id disc" which again, only pioneer service centres have... Any 1 know where i can download this disc? I tried learning the ir codes of the GGF1381 to winlirc but somethings not quite right ....doesnt work. Not giving up yet though...will share them if successful. I've been hunting high and low for that id data disc. I found some posts mentioning a pioneer_service.nrg file available for download from edonkey. So i installed e donkey started a torrent and got the file...49.9 Mb. It's a winrar set of 39 folders. Click on it and it initiates nero to burn an iso image. I tried burning it on a cd because i don't have a dvd writer. Hasn't worked for me. I need to know if this iso image is the id data disc i need. The winrar files are called regfree520_720.nrg . Thats not the same thing as the data id disc(ggv1179) is it ?. Anyway i'll give it another shot tomorow and burn it on a dvd and will report results here. Strange but i find the posts i've put here on other forums....?????
