Philips 29PT5408/01 Chassis: L04E - Fault code

Brand: Philips Type: 28PT5408/01 Chassis: L04E

Symptoms: Set does power up normally picture seems to be normal but a little out of focus, after 10 to 20 minutes set goes to standby mode and front led showing a fault code blink sequence:

1 long and 11 short flashes, led color is red for complete sequence.

Can anybody tell me what this fault code means as i don't have a service manual.

Thanks in advance, Patrick Craenen

The fault could be in the power supply, scan amplifiers, or in the high voltage section. Most of the time, it is faulty components that are going more out of specs as they heat up. This type of fault is not able to be found without proper troubleshooting.

I would suggest taking the set to a service center to have it properly checked. This is not the type of problem you will fix at home by simply messing around inside the set. There are also some serious safety issues when working inside of TV sets.

Thank you for your reply.

I've been into TV repair for years so i know everything i need to know about safety precautions while working inside TV sets, but thanks for your concern anyway. I just want to know the description that is in the manual for this error code or advice of technicians who have experienced the same fault code with this type of chassis.

Replace IC (TDA6108AJF) on CRT PCB

Putting it on test the set operated normal for 2 days being on for more than 5 hours a day. Today the same problem occurred after approximately 4 hours of being on. Switching the set back on immediately after the problem makes it work for no longer than 15 minutes before it goes to standby mode producing the same error code. This has to be a temperature related problem. Still got no insight in the meaning of the error code: 1 long and

11 short blinks of the red power led.

Found a service manual for the L04E AA chassis. If anybody needs it, let me know.

Replaced the TDA6108AJF today but the problem stays. After 10 minutes error code 11 again. I'm beginning to suspect a intermittent short in the the CRT. Sometimes the set runs normal for hours and sometimes for a few minutes so don't think the occurrence it is a temperature related. Sprayed freeze on the TDA6108AJF and other components on the CRT PCB without any significant effect.

Sometimes the picture flashes green and or red with high intensity, not always but mostly causing the set to go in to "black current loop instability protection" turning the set into standby and making the power led flash the error code 11. It is always possible to turn the set back ON with the remote control until the next occurrence of the fault.

Sorry for double posting but posted this to the wrong thread.

Picture of the set is loosing sharpness. Adjusting focus voltage on the flyback does not make any improvement.
