Dead Samsung 15" TFT TV ?

Hi All,

I have been pointed in the direction of this n/g with the thought there may be a 'known issue / fault' on the following model please?

Samsung 15 inch TFT TV.

Model code LW15M13CX/XEU Model LW15M13C. S Type No MU15EO

A friend bought one around 6 months ago and it recently failed. The screen is 'blank' but the power is on and the remote changes the channel judging by the audio.

The shop she bought it from as now gone and she has been quoted a potential repair cost around the current price of a new replacement ;-(

All the best

If you put it in bright light (sunlight, spotlight, something) can you make out a picture? If so then you need to look at the backlight tubes or inverter.

Hi All,

I got an email from my friend yesterday .....

"Well, B****r me!

I forgot to do this when I got home last night, but then I woke up at

3.30 this morning and thought that I may as well try it as it is a good time with it being dark etc.

So I switch on the TV, and blow me down if it didn't work!

Now, before you say anything, I had tried it several times over a period of a few weeks and could not get it to do anything, I had tried adjusting all sorts of things and had even followed the destruction manual for this type of fault, but could not get it to work. ... .

So, I suppose time will tell ?

Thanks for the help ..

*sigh* tried adjusting things? Why do people *always* fiddle with alll the adjustments when something breaks? Thankfully LCD's tend not to have non-user adjustments accessible.

I suspect there's a bad solder joint or other intermittant problem on the backlight inverter, the problem will crop up again.

Good question .. We stopped to help a fellow cyclist the other day and it looked like the rear wheel had tried to eat his rear gear mech ;-( He said 'I was just fiddling with the gears when .. " ;-)

Thankfully LCD's tend not to have

Indeed .. and just as well maybe ;-)

Well, if it does at least we now have a better idea what might be wrong .. ie it's not the backlights themselves?

All the best ..
