Trying to select a CPU..

Hello,

in the next few months, I will start a project which involves an embedded linux system. I don't have a complete overview about all suitable devices, especially about the quality of their linux support. So I hope I can get some advice from this group.

Here are the requirements:

o About 10-20K devices per year. o Lifetime = 5 years. o The target is cost-sensitive. o Storage should be nand flash chip. o Booting from NAND flash will reduce total system costs. o Filesystem = ??? YAFFS? o Memory will be SDRAM or DDRAM. 256 Mbit = no Problem. o USB Host support (1 Port). o USB Device support (1 Port). o LCD controller support (less than quarter VGA). o 1 SPI Port. o 1 UART Port. o BGA package, 0.8mm Pitch or more. o Computing Power ca. 100 MIPS. o MMU preferred.

Because of USB Host and Device, Linux 2.6 will be preferred.

The best choice I found so far is the "Cooper" from Netsilicon. Disadvantage: first samples in December, Quality of Linux support unknown.

So, any comments?

best regards Wolfgang Mües

It's a stripped-down Version of the NS9750. It's not on the Netsilicon Website yet.

I don't want a board. I only want to select the right chip for my own board design.

Thank you for the link.

However, I don't search a board. I want to select the best chip for my own board development.
