Routes on logical interfaces?

On our system we assign several IP adresses to one of our physical interface. (eth1, eth1:1, & eth1:2) My question is can I set a 'route' for a specific logical interface (eth1:2)? The route command with accept the device name eth1:2 but when I display all the routes, the route command show that the route is associated to just eth1.

All eth1 interfaces are the same. All the IPs are treated equally. the ifconfig command is the only thing that supports the legacy "ethX:X" syntax.
