Cellular modem

Nov 30, 2003 3 Replies

I'm looking for a cellular modem for my embedded project. It needs to be GSM and use a standard serial connector. My embedded PC104 board has serial ports but no pcmia slots. I need to be able to call this system, have it answer, then retrieve data. Currently doing this with an old brick phone and the Motorola Interface, however that technology is gone and replacement items are hard to find.

I'm looking at the Microcomm MTCBA-G-F2 however they seem to be out of stock a lot.

Does anyone have suggestions? Richard

Have you tried Siemens TC35i or MC35 or M45 embedded modems (they are PCB modules)? If you need a boxed modem you could use TC35T.

Take a look at:

Wavecom offers several types of GPRS modems.

They offer a tri-band cellular modem plus a carrier board that provides standard headers into which may be plugged an adapter cable for a D-sub connector ("standard serial connector").
