Speed controller question

Please help electronically challenged person to pick a suitable speed control. :) for this DC motor:

2 HP 130 Volt AMPS 18.0 / Max AMP 40.0 Type DF Torque 38 F.F. 1.38 Serv. Factor 1.0 Encl. TEFC

I am not very familiar with DC motor/Speed Controller stuff so any educational information/links is appreciated.

Thanks

hello!I'm a student majoring in electronic.I think your circuit need a PWM singal generator and a driving amplifier. With ordinary IC like KA7500b ,we can get a PWM signal, and it's output is strong enough to drive MOSFET or IGBT. Is 40A too big for this 2 HP motor?According to this value,we can select a proper transistor or use some parallel MOSFETs.
