Power supply design

Hi.

I have an adapter with an output of 9V 1A DC adapter.

I need to convert this to 5V, 2A?

Any idea how I can make a little power supply circuit or something to achieve this?

THANX

There is no design that can achieve this.

What your power supply gives is: 9V * 1A = 9W What you want out is: 5V * 2A = 10W

There is no power supply design that can give out power that you feed into it. In practical power supplies you typically get out 50-85% of the power you feed to them. This means that you would be able to get only about 1.5A of 5V power with a good power supply circuit design (a well designed switch mode power supply).

Your converter is rated at 1 amp to start with, therefore you will need something that can delivery 2 amps or more. It would be more prudent to invest in the proper power supply for what you want to do.
