Need help to buy a large TV

Need help to buy a large TV

******************************

My friend is looking to buy a 42 to 60 inch TV

She does not want to pay over $1,000.

What Tv should she buy ? What the latest technologies in TVs ? Plasma ? LCD ? H-Def Tv ?

What are the negatives/positives of each technology.

Also considering she is a budget minded person what are the best places/sites to but such TVs ?

Is it Ok to but from an out of town site and have it shipped ?

She lives in the Bay Area, CA. Any suggestions locally that offer good deals ?

Any recommendations/pointers ?

Thanks in advance Anna

The combination of those two requirements doesn't leave you with much.

Over 42" and under $1000 (actually, the cut-off would be more like twice that), and you've already ruled ANY technology out of the question with the possible exception of rear-projection. I don't know if there are any small RPTVs in the 40-50" range for around $1k, either - but that would be pretty iffy.

The first thing she must do, is decrease the size of the TV by a lot, if she wants something descent for $1000. The second thing, is that she cannot even think about LCD, Plasma, or anything along this line with this budget. She cannot even think about these in her wildest dreams!

She can get a very descent 25 to 27 inch standard type TV set for around $1000, or maybe a few dollars more in this budget.
