I am sending you all this posting in thanks for the help in my not so good transister theory. I have built the supply and it is now under test.

The Q2 in this curcuit is only disapating about .750 watts and is not even heating at this point. I have discharged my test battery's (2 X 12.6 5AHR in paralellel) to see max current flow with R2 at 39ohms/10W. The matel tab that is inside my case is not even showing signs of heat. It is only showing a slight higher temp the air temp. I could use 2N6284 Power darlington and eliminate Q2.
