Free Tectronix 545B in Boston Area

I am cleaning house, and have a like new Tek 545B with a dual-trace plug in that is available without cost to anyone who wants to pick it up form my home in Chelmsford. Sorry, the cart doesn't go with it, but I'll throw in a probe. Manuals are included.

This is an excellent opportunity for a highschool student or serious hobbiest to obtain a quality triggered-sweep, dual-trace scope at no cost other than to transport it.

I puchased it new back around 1979, and it worked perfectly the last time I plugged it in about 2 years ago.

OK, no calls or emails when something wonderful like this is offered for free, so now I'll offer it for sale and see what happens, starting at $200.

  1. Put it on eBay with a starting bid of 99 cents and a "local pickup only" flag. The scope will be seen by a lot of potentially interested people - those who made a search that included a key term that matched your scope. Never sold on eBay? It's easy and you can enter an item either via an online interface or on a PC (TurboLister is a free download from eBay).
  2. Go to

and see whether there is a Freecycle group in your area. It's a lot easier to find a taker in Boston if you limit the area to Boston instead of the world ;-)

My laser printer came via the local Freecycle group, as did some lawn equipment (gas powered edger and blower) and a small freezer. I've given away moving boxes, a 35mm SLR with 2 lenses, and a couple of laptop PCs. You never know what someone might want to get or want to dispose of. Some groups are more active than others - the one in my area probably has over 100 items listed each week.
