Loading thread data ...

It might be boot code that loads a compressed image of the main code, decompresses it and then jumps to the start point, or it could be a machine used by loggers to load cut timber onto log trucks for transport to their next destination. Your tutor should be able to help with this.

It load things.

I had a loader some years ago whose sole purpose was to take the clip of

3mm cannon shells and fit them to the RADEN cannon whilst I fired it.

My courier has a loader at the depot. He loads the van for him.

Then there are link-loaders.... Though these are called linkers these days.

Also boot loaders which are quite common in shoe factories

It's been a long week :-)

Don't forget freeloaders :-) Very common beasts. On Bastille Day go to your French Consulate and listen attentively while swilling Veuve Cliquot.

+What is a loader? +How do I use a cache? +I'm a senior embedded engineer, can somebody please explain the difference between ROM and RAM to me? +How do I connect to an external bus?

What is going on in the world? Does nobody read any more? "In my day" I had to buy books and study, "kids theses days" have the internet at their finger tips but are still too lazy to read.

Here are some hints -

1) Open google and type define:"boot loader" in as the search. 2) Go to Wikipedia.org and type in "boot loader" as the search.

I have not tried either of these by I bet a penny you will find what you are looking for.

Regards, Richard.

From the tone of this and your other posts I wonder if you might be jumping in at the deep end a little bit. This question sounded like the sort of thing one might ask if you came from a PC application background but your array and pointer question suggests that is not so.

I'm still quite new to embedded systems but I've found that experimenting with development kits and using the internet to see what other people have done is very useful. Also for general information I find google gives the fastest answer. This group is very useful for specific problems, opinions or advice but, by definition, the people posting here are busy and only have time to respond to posts that can't be solved through google (or are more interesting than their current project!)

Bosch are a big company and may well get you on a training course to give you a good grounding in what you need to know. I'm also sure that there are enough skilled people in the company that you can talk to them and they will be happy to help - plus they can physically demonstrate a loader in action to you, which is something this group cannot do.

Oh, same as everyone: walked 3 miles (up-hill both ways) in driving sleet, no shoes, to the public library (which never had any books)... :-)

LUXURY!!!

We had to walk 10 mile up hill both ways over broken glass with no shoes to a public library where we were beaten for asking for books and you tell the kids these days and they don't believe you :-)

Monty Python have a lot to answer for.

In my case the broken glass was covered with a foot of new snow, and more was coming down. We were allowed shoes, but they tended to slip out of the ski harnesses. We avoided the beatings by simply stealing the books, which we could read by candlelight. For some reason the wind was always in our face. However the uphill both ways is common to all. I think we inspired Ecsthel (spelling?).
