Hello, I have a protected mode os running on a pc. I need to reboot the pc without using the bios. How do I go about this?

signaling the keyboard chip like this will reset the processor:

out 0x64, 0xfe

I have no keyboard, does this matter?

pc

What exactly is the keyboard controller doing? Or rather, why is it the one doing the resetting?
