MMC cards, who created the standard behind them (if any)

Hello from the Eighth Doctor One of my staff, with my blessing, is investigating the possiblty of using CF, or MMC cards for file storage on an embedded system project that he's designing.

I know, (vaguely), who invented the first CF card, and who started the standard behind them. We've got a supplier selected for both the cards, and the adapter. But the MMC card is a tricky beast. We'd like to know more about these things, before we continue, and probably make mistakes.

I'm at a loss as to what makes you think that knowing who started the design of MMC cards might improve your chances of working with them in any significant way. MMC is governed by an industry standard, which you should implement correctly, and that's that. See

Even if all the snow were burnt, ashes would remain.
