I got an unusual request from my old customer, he is looking for stadium size LED display. That is, display for the stadium, 7x9m or so.
I have found a lot of chinese crap online that I'm not comfortable recommending.
Anyone ever dealed with this stuff, who are the big players that I can recommend?

Barco - I've looked at their brochures, and dismantled some of their hardware
Lighthouse - I've worked on EMC issues for them
if you are in New Zealand then Monstavision - I designed all their power electronics
The company I cant name who I am designing one with right now (I am currently doing a thermal test on the PFC SMPS which is why Im pissing around on usenet). I cant name them for a couple more weeks - something to do with launching it at some sort of tradeshow thingummy, I dunno, I just design stuff. This is way better than the other three, with a much lower total cost of ownership - among other things, these eat enormous amounts of electricity, which is why we are working hard to maximise efficiency
your customer needs to think about what pixel pitch he wants, as it drastically affects price - a 17mm pixel pitch screen is something like US$5000/m^2, c.f. Lighthouse 4mm product which is more like US$40,000/m^2
for advertising purposes (as opposed to full-motion video) even coarser pixel pitches are used eg 23mm
you also need to think about intensity & environment - does it need to be visible in direct sunlight, is it indoors (that means you can ignore wind loading), is it mounted to a wall/frame or flown, does it need to be portable (eg for rock bands), what about IP rating etc.

Thanks, exactly what I needed to get an idea of what I'm up against here. Extremely grateful, thanks!
These things seem to break a lot, I regularly see broken pixels or panels on various displays around here.
I owe you one!
