Lantronix multiple connetions

Hi All,

Reading the documentation of the Lantronix XPort, I understand that this device can only talk to one client, using TCP/IP. What I'd like to achive is to enable multiple computer to receive the data from my Lantronix device and also have the possibility to talk back. My data is packetized so this shouldn't be a problem. The idea is to write an applet running on the XPort that uses UDP. But the problem is the standard port redirector that Lantronix provides; it only talks TCP/IP when tunneling the serial data. Suggestions anyone? At this moment I don't seem myself writing my own port redirector. No experience and no tools.

Loading thread data ...

Applets are served up by the XPort but the code is run on the PC browser. My advice is to write a threaded application on your PC that accepts connections from other computers and queues them into the XPort. It doesn't have to be a Java applet but if it is you will have to bypass the security settings of your browser to allow it to make connections to the other computers. Personally I'd write a Java application.

If you want code running on the XPort you need to get the SDK and compile it using Borland 5. At least that is the theory, I never managed to prise the SDK out of the sticky mitts of our distributer so we went with something else.

Ah, bad choice of word from my side. What I meant was writing an application with the SDK and load it in the XPort.

Well... let's see how good my distributor is :-)
