Can someone lead me to any tutorials or notes on the basics of interfacing a LCD, Keypad and LED with a 32-bit Micro ??

is good place if you are free to choose any MCU, they always speak about ATMEL gadgets;-) IIRC there are some interesting projects realated to LCD and keyboard under "Project" link. Check out the butterfly application kit!
