I asked this before about 8051 core chips

You-all came through. However, I was overwhelmed yet, I still haven't found what I need.

I am looking for an 8051 uc that has lots of flash and lots of ram and an internal rtc and some a/d and d/a. SPI and I2C would be very nice. I took a hiatus when the 89c668/9 series was in vogue and now, it doesn't SEEM like there has been a huge amount of new versions.

Where am I going wrong?

Thank you.

You are not listening to people's advise.

To have large memory spaces (flash and sram), you need the 32 bit version of 8051. Such Advanded Risc Machine are better uC than the

8051.

Thanks. I suppose that I didn't see it. Could you give me some examples or sites?

Well, you did not put any numbers, so we have no idea what your " lots of flash and lots of ram " actually means.

ASIX have some large (up to 1MB FLASH, dual core) 8051 large address variants.

From SiLabs, there are parts up to 128KF : C8051F58x series.

At large memory, 8051 are thin on the ground.

Wiznet also have some part with quite a lot of flash and ram. And a built in h/w IP stack

89c668/9 are 64K flash, 8K sram.

I hope he is not programming 1MB in assembler.

If you are not programming in assembler, which bother with 20 years old comp.arch.history. These high end 8051s are not very popular, because they cost an arm and a leg. So, why not get the arm.

You are asking where to buy a buggy whip suitable for use in jet fighter applications, that's where you're going wrong.

Wrong. Think again.

Try SIlabs or Analog Devices.

maybe a better place to ask the question.

Call back when you have a clue. The fact that everyone is telling you "go ARM" should mean something.

Larwe,

You are not contributing anything except smart-assed remarks. You have yet to suggest a chip or more.

How much nice it would have been to say something along the order of this:

'Glad to see one coming back to microcpntrollers. You may be interested in the following chip: xxxxxx, xxxxxxx or xxxxxxxxx. They have most, if not all of what you are looking for. Please let me know if I can be of further help'

Above is being helpful and polite. You are just being a little shit.

Now, run along.

Thanks, Neil, I will check those out.

For some odd reason, I cannot log on/register to 8052.com.

Arm suggestions, Linnix?

Malcolm,

You bet it helps. That ASIX series is something although, I didn't see a rtc onboard.

Okay, Rocky.

I will check that out.

Thank you.

? The new family, AX220xx_Brief.pdf says :

["Integrates 32.768KHz crystal oscillator IO (with independent power input) for RTC and auto-wakeup timer of Wi-Fi power saving mode"]

You can always add one, (easier than adding Code memory) and I see NXP have some TCXO modules now... PFX2127.PCF2129, for more precise RTCs

... says the same guy whose previous comment in this very thread consisted of a smart-assed one-liner that contributed exactly nothing to anything. You need to get a grip, man.

Nobody _has_to_ do anything here. You have no contract with any of us telling us what we have to do. And the way you're behaving yourself doesn't really improve people's wish to help you, either.

Not sure why try and email them. Keil.com has a 8052 core search tool. Note that everything it lists is still in production.

You may want to re-read Lewin's posts and your replies - perhaps you will realize who is being impolite, and apologise. If you want to be able to demand answers, find some paid consultant to provide it. Of course, they would then drop you as a customer after your outburst here.

You might also want to look at some of the archives for this group, and you'll see that Lewin is a knowledgeable and helpful contributor who goes out of his way to help people - /if/ they are willing to listen. You have lost a good potential source of help and information here. And I think you'll get little advice from many of the other experienced members of c.a.e., including Hans-Bernhard and myself.

Oh, and please learn to use Usenet - don't top-post.

I have emailed them and got no answer.

Will keep trying.

Thanks for the tips.
