data and LPT

Hi I am under graduate student in electronics and i am pretty doubtful of under-mention topic. And i hope you will really help me to come out. Say I have five seperate input (tranducers/sensors) and i want to accumulate data in real time each of five data through the parelle port of a PC. Can i ever achive this without a microcontroller off the PC ?

tnx

You need to clarify what you mean/require by 'real time'.

Do you need Minutes / Seconds / milliseconds / microseconds / nanoseconds of time precision ?

It is certainly possible to communicate using i2c, or SPI, from the parallel port, to remote ICs - so a microcontroller is not mandatory.

ok. One input is temperature other is humidity and so on up to 5 inputs feed thru parellel port and display them in PC altogether.(refresh rate can be altered.ie every 5 seconds)

Hope you understand what i mean.
