Appliance question

Who makes off the shelf USB appliances < $400 (cheaper better)? Specs I would like: small (roughly size of a router), 8+ USB ports, computing ability (like PDA or computer), embedded OS (Linux or Windows CE/XP-Embedded), battery or screen would be nice (like PDA). Does not need KVM plugs (Keyboard, Video, Mouse), screen, speakers or CD/DVD/Floppy Drives. There could be 2 sets of answers: 1) who has the Guts (a board) 2) who has this in a box.

Thanks

I think that your 8+ USB ports is going to be the most serious problem. What is this thing going to be used for?

Agreed, the killer is the number of ports. If you can add an external hub your options will increase greatly. I assume quantity 1 for that price is what you're after? And what kind of processor speed do you think you'll need? How about RAM or flash (this affects price a lot)? How important is power consumption (this affects processor, and in turn price)?
