ANN: the ABCD Proto-Kernel  version 1.1 The ABCD Proto-Kernel  version 1.1 has just been released at

The version 1.1 distribution comprises the complete source code, plus comprehensive kernel design documentation. New with the version 1.1: a BDM handler application, with schematics for the BDM interface port hardware. We use this setup as a manufacturing test and device initialization setup.

*** Unique Kernel Design *** The ABCD Proto-Kernel  design provides an elegant solution to the recurring problem of providing a "real-time operating system" for embedded projects small enough that the need for an operating system might be questioned in the first place. This solution is as simple as ABCD, respectively for   a) interrupt dispatching,   b) fixed priority scheduling,   c) mutual-exclusion semaphores, and   d) a queuing mechanism. This is a coherent selection of a minimal subset of the myriad of programming facilities provided by full-blown real-time operating systems. *** A global solution for embedded PowerPC development *** The ABCD Proto-Kernel  version 1.x is targeted at the Motorola MPC8xx processor family, which is the entry-level embedded PowerPC architecture. It is part of a comprehensive integrated solution for embedded development tools and a hardware processor module ready for prototyping and low-volume production:    - the ABCD Proto-Kernel ,
