A nie jest tak, że ATmega8 ma stronicowaną pamięć???
Nie wyrzucaj sprzętu, tylko zaopatrz się w następcę ISP programmera, czyli avrdude. Jest tam definicja megi8. Jeśli Ci to pomoże, to załączam, choć ISP programmera nie znam i nie wiem, czy będą pasować:
