wikipedia on differential amplifier

take a look at wikipedia's long-tailed pair diagram under the differential amplifier listing:

I think they have the inputs labeled backwards. I went to the discussion page, and somebody had pointed this out, and somebody responded "the gain is negative by convention." Is that true? It's not how op-amp inputs are labeled.

** Why ?

Read the caption for the diagram:

" A long-tailed-pair (LTP) differential input stage with current-mirror load and constant-current drive used in discrete VFB amplifiers." ( VFB = Voltage Feed Back )

See the arrow labelled " to next stage" - so is NOT the output, another stage exists that will invert the signal polarity before it becomes the output.

Wiki is the greatest thing since the Clintons but it is still often weak in tech fields.
