transistor identification

Re: transistor TA78L 009AP 8A. in a 3/TO-92 package.

Can anyone identify this transistor ? and tell me where I can buy a replacement?

It is used in the TV aerial booster in my caravan, running on a 12v dc supply.

Thank you Mike S

Could be a 78L0x series voltage regulator.

It is a 9 volt, 100 mA voltage regulator from the original 7805 series.

78L suggests a low power IC positive voltage regulator. Would 9 Volts make sense in your application ? The generic term would be 78L09 probably.

this would explain why he it doesn't test good as a transistor :)

Very much so ! He might be well advised to check if there's (a) a suitable input voltage and (b) 9V at the output pin. PDF data sheets readily available by googling 78L09.
