Questions about Nikola Tesla

Hi all,here's a some questions I always wanted to ask electronics gurus. It'sabout Nikola Tesla and his inventions.The first question is about the issue that some of his inventions weresuppressed by authorities. For example the Wikipedia article on Teslastates that the after his death, the "his papers were declared to betop secret" and that the issues pertaining to his death were declared"most secret" by J. Edgar Hoover.Does anyone know if the papers are classified as "top secret"? TheWikipedia article doesn't say if that status was ever removed from thepapers..The second question is about some of the inventions that were neverfinalized. Take for example the supposed Wardenclyffe tower, that wassupposed to transmit electrical energy accross vast distances. If thiswould really work, why hasn't anyone attempted to build such a tower?Or even a smaller version (for shorter distances) using the samemechanism?And then there are other inventions that are described in the variousbooks about Tesla. Some of these seem only to be in schematic formatbut if they were great inventions, why don't we see the technology inwider use today?After all, since Tesla died in 1943, his patents should have becomepublic domain in 1993...or am I wrong here?thanks in advance,JJ

Yes, I have heard of that, it is incredible!! I've never seen it done, but would like to.

In a similar situation, many years ago, as a boy I would recieve a good, strong radio signal from just about any crystal set configuration I concocted because there was an AM station about one mile away that broadcasted at 50KWatts!!

Yes, and along with the high power requirements I think the Tesla transmitter system also used the earth as a ground, where to receive the electric power transmission a person used both a receiving antenna and a solid earth connection.
