mic to headphone connector

Feb 18, 2008 2 Replies

Hi,

is there a lead/connector that connects the headphone outlet of a device to the mic port of another device. I am wondering if I can record radio programs from a radio into the voice-recorder having a mic input port. Dos any one know of such a thing and what is it called.

thanks!

A microphone input expects much less signal than you get from a headphone output. If the recorder has a "line input" jack, use that. If not, look for an attenuating patchcord. They used to be pretty easy to find, but I haven't needed one for years. You will also need to combine the stereo pair to one channel. Radio shack used to sell these patchcords, but your chance of getting a Radio Shack clerk who knows what you're talking about is pretty remote, even if the company still sells any such thing.
