can anyone tell me if a linear amplifier for a CB 27 meg will work on a UHF CB

No.
First, while you'll actually need a linear amplfier to amplify the AM signal of the 27MHz band, at UHF modulation is FM and a linear amplifier is not needed, and may not be as efficient.
Besides that, amplifiers are generally designed for specific frequency ranges, and the UHF band is almost 20 times the frequency of the 27Mhz band. It won't work.
