This is why we need to start killing all the lawyers, or at least set up a loser pays system - like the rest of the world.

I probably won't either, just because the boss wouldn't reimburse me for costs.

I did and suffered no permanent damage. It took a good two minutes for the after image to go away, about the same as a camera flash. It is very uncomfortable to look into for more than a fraction of a second

It's not about rounding them up at the end of the day. It's so customers can find them during business hours.

The restaurants around here use them so people can shop the neighborhood while waiting for a table.

I want something that I don't have to be interrupted to operate while I'm doing other things.

I hadn't considered that, but now I'm wondering how long standard batteries would last.

And now that I think about it, I've never seen one with a non-momentary switch. Could it be that they build up too much heat if they are left on?

Well, it seems to turn out that lasers are probably not that great an idea, but somebody called "default", a few posts up-thread, suggested helium balloons - you can get them pretty cheap at the variety store, usually. They might say, "Happy Birthday" or something, but who cares? they're chair buoys. Sometimes they have them dangling upwards from the racks. :-)

In fact, I've been thinking of marketing something like that for a car finder - you put an additional button on your key fob, and when you press it, the car releases a helium balloon that goes maybe 20 feet in the air - Ah! There it is! :-)

Good Luck! Rich

Jay Leno: "The White House fires several lawyers and the people choose to side with the lawyers. That shows how far the administration has fallen".
