% Charged--Two Readings: Why the Difference?

I have a Xantera 600HD Power Pack and decided to try it out for a situation I might want to use it in. I wanted to see how long I could run a VCR and Epson S3 computer projector. I put in a tape 30 minute long and ran the two devices for 20 minutes. At the end of that time, I unplugged the two devices and turned off the PP. When I pressed the % charge button it showed 10%. After about 30 minutes I thought I'd charge up the battery and redo the test in a slightly different way. However, I decided to check the % charge and found it was now 50%. How does one explain this? BTW the two devices were doing just fine when I turned them off.

Batteries bounce back a little after a heavy discharge and those meters are not good for much.

When it come to percentage of charge left in the battery any meter is really just a guess.

They take the discharge curve of the battery at the devices rated current and assign values on the curve until the device wont function. Many things disrupt the accuracy.
